BEST FOR MILITARY/TACTICAL USE : ContourROAM Hands-free HD Camcorder

Disappointed, to put it simply. I was looking forward to getting into POV action shooting. Of the various cameras out there (GoPro, Oregon Scientific, Drift), I liked the feel and look of the Contour the most. When the specs came out for the ROAM, I was all over it.

I got my ROAM in the mail and immediately tested it out. Sadly, there was zero audio. I boosted the mic setting to 42 (max) and only got audio from mounting the camera. I spoke loudly, recorded a movie at 80db reading just 2 feet away from the camera and it picked up no audio.

About a month later, Contour released a firmware update to supposedly address this problem. It did nothing at all.

I contacted Contour and they kindly sent a replacement.

I received it and unfortunately, it STILL did not work. The firmware was up-to-date, I formatted my memory card with no problems, and while the video quality is great, no audio = faulty product.

I tried to contact Contour again and I have not received any reply for the past week or so.

It is sad that they are unable to release a WORKING product. Buyers beware.
